Supply Line Director
Central New Jersey-based, rapidly growing, venture capital-backed, developer and manufacturer of fiber optic modules that simplify, automate, and make affordable the delivery of high-bandwidth applications
Reports to VP Supply Chain & IT
The SLD will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to develop, maintain, and monitor supply line activities. The SLD will have responsibility for developing and managing a robust supply line including negotiating supply agreements and driving cost reductions. The SLD will have a good understanding of processes used to develop and
manufacture complex products composed of mechanical, electrical, and optical components.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assume responsibility for developing and maintaining the supply chain for products developed at Nistica.
Work closely with Demand Management and Procurement teams to guide the ordering activities with multiple suppliers to minimize risk of fulfillment while maintaining lowest cost and high levels of quality
Develop new suppliers and qualify them and their products as per the Nistica defined New Vendor Qualification processes
Manage cost-reduction projects across the company. Monitor and drive closure on engineering and sourcing activities to meet pre-defined cost reduction
Develop and execute supply agreements to achieve performance and cost targets including year-over-year cost reductions
Maintain and enhance processes to develop and monitor suppliers on a continuous basis for reliable supply line, high quality, and lowest cost
Develop and enforce Nistica process to quantify vendor performance
Develop proactive monitoring and measurement systems to forecast commodity-pricing trends based on historical data and market trends to
favorably influence competitive pricing
Work actively with suppliers and Nistica engineering to resolve technical and logistical issues related to parts supply
Visit suppliers to ensure they have a high-quality fabrication process. Assist suppliers to develop their internal processes to allow them to reliably supply parts with high quality and low cost
Provide continuous improvement plans to improve quality and reduce cost of parts
Review technical specifications needed to support a robust supply line. Work closely with product development engineering teams to provide
manufacturing guidelines for parts and assemblies to ensure manufacturabilityand high levels of fulfillment at lowest cost.
5-to-15 years experience in the field of supply chain management and supplier quality improvement activities in a manufacturing environment. Must have assumed responsibilities to develop and support supply line for complex
optical, electrical, and mechanical products.
Experience negotiating supply agreements and managing cost reduction activities to achieve year-over-year cost reductions
Strong operational, process, and documentation skills
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or Engineering
Training in Six Sigma (e.g., Green or Black Belt) or other disciplined problem-solving approaches strongly preferred
Experience with ERP systems strongly preferred.
