Manufacturing Associate
Position: Assembler
Location: Bridgewater, NJ
General Description:
The ideal candidate for operator contract position will have demonstrated experience in a fiber optic or related production environment. He/she will be meticulous with details, and possess the skills to work with optical parts and assemblies. An appreciation for the importance of tightly controlled and repeatable processes is critical. He/she will be able to work independently within a team, and be able to clearly communicate through written and verbal means.
Responsibilities:
• Assemble, inspect, and test opto-mechanical and opto-electronic subassemblies and modules
• Perform detailed and precise assembly operations requiring dexterity in handling small parts, and the ability to execute step-by-step instructions in a repeatable fashion
• Gather and record relevant data during the mfg process
• Move product flow through various stages and record in database
• Assist with return/rework of non-conforming parts
Qualifications:
• 3+yrs experience in a mfg environment with hi-tech/electronic/precision products
• 2+yrs experience with fiber optic products and related mfg processes
• fusion splicing and general handling of fibers and fiber optic components
• Experience with production and test equipment (power meters, lasers, OSA, mechanical fixtures/tools, cleaning solvents, etc.)
• Familiarity with ESD practices, printed circuit boards, electronics
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, process instructions, schematics
• Familiarity with general production material flow processes: receiving, inspection, inventory transfers, work orders, non-conforming product, rework, RMA
• General computer skills
• Ability to plan and prioritize activities, perform and monitor multiple overlapping tasks/operations to meet schedule
• Must have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a team based environment that heavily emphasizes quality, performance, cross-training, customer service and high accountability
